Unplanned Obsolescence

I recently noticed that The Village Voice has started redoing neighborhoods for its Close-up On series. I always wondered how long it would take before they ran out of or started revisiting enclaves since my Sunset Park profile was one of the first. It's scary to think it was written over three years ago, so it was about due for an update.

Every so often I'll check Craigslist for one bedrooms under $1,000, just for a fun reality check. It's slim pickings, but inevitably I'll find a few in my former stomping grounds, Ridgewood and Sunset Park. It makes me a bit uneasy to know that if I'm ever booted out of Carroll Gardens I'll just end up right back where I came from. Or is that comforting?
