It’s very strange that I’ve developed an Oregon obsession this year. I couldn’t help but compare NYC to Portland in ’98-’99 when I was a fresh transplant but Portland began rapidly fading from memory like a new millennium amnesia.
Maybe a decade in one environment gives you sufficient perspective to reflect and maybe even foster a smidge of nostalgia about your past. Lately, I’ve found myself practically deluged with entertaining (to me, at least) tales from the NW that I feel compelled to create a new category, Beaver State of Mind.
I will kick off this subject with this headline, “Oregon woman obsessed with rabbits again arrested.” Hillsboro resident, Miriam Sakewitz, was ordered not to go within 100 yards of a rabbit but she just couldn’t control herself.
