When Gay & Retarded Had No Consequences

Searching for footage of Rascal scooters in malls, I was saddened not enlightened by Sam’s Club and white dudes saying nigga and mullets on YouTube.

I was, however, reminded of Blair (not to be confused with Blair, which bizarrely enough I spent part of my afternoon searching for a PR contact for because I get paid to research e-commerce trends and we are writing about how catalogs fit into multichannel retailing—do you envy me?) the kind of simple internet funny I admired in the ‘90s. Page views and advertising? Also, The Brunching Shuttlecocks.

Everyone now is so sharp, poke you in the eye sharp, maybe pericardium-puncturing sharp, full of references, pop culture, politics and history (maybe not music) and real references (someone somewhere with clout would vouch for them) and savvy and connected and literate in their 20s. Twenty-four hours and everything's old. Snoozing is losing. Even when they are being silly they are being smart. By their 30s they will rule the world.

I would like to get really stoned at see Avatar. That is all.
