There is a school of thought that fat people shouldn’t be allowed to have nice things, i.e. stylish clothing, lest they lose the incentive to become unobese. Once you glorify the obese lifestyle, all girls will want to be a size 24. Yet, many fatsos are able to save themselves from unflattering trends (ok, let’s just pretend Lane Bryant isn’t selling jeggings).
I wondered what would happen when cropped, pleated trousers, a bane to any female with even a hint of natural hip (despite Lucky’s “Cropped Trousers For Real Bodies,” advice) became mainstream enough to be sold in stores with regular people sizes, i.e. above a size 8. Based on this Gap sale, they’re not buying them in record quantities.
