The weekend after I got back from vacation, which
was about a month ago, the distant past, James had recorded Another Earth and I
didn't feel like watching it because it was too hot in the apartment, I didn't
immediately recognize the movie which I was actually interested in, but wasn't
excited about at first because 90% of the time he records things I don't like
(I cannot deal with Strikeback or Spartacus, which are kind of the same show)
and he wasn't even paying attention but boxing up books for the move anyway.
Slowly, though, I got sucked into the movie that's
totally based around what I think is a trope even though I can't think of another example offhand: befriending someone whose life
you've ruined by killing their loved ones, but they don't know it. At some
point there was puking and it was pretty much because that's what happens when
you hump William Mapother, i.e. Tom Cruise's busted-looking (yet dare I say, hotter, cousin).
So, James deleted it without even watching it and
after I said not to. Then every time I've set it to record since (three times!)
I've gone back a few days later and he's deleted it from the DVR, though he
claims to have only done it once! I don't know what the fuck is going or if I
should interpret this as a metaphor, but I am obviously not meant to have a
photo from the puking scene. Perhaps the me on another earth sets things to
record and they stay in the queue.
