Earlier this year I was lamenting how I couldn’t find a Malaysian newspaper article about a monkey befriending a chicken that we brought back from Asia last year. James is such a pack rat that he just found the damn thing from Aug. 30, 2005 while cleaning up yesterday after our party (more details on that later). The reason I couldn’t find the New Straits Times story online is because it’s totally nonexistent on the internet. The headline, “A Chicken’s Best Friend” turns up a few incorrect hits and Googling the monkey’s name Minah with monkey and chicken, gets you nowhere.
I haven’t posted anything warm and cuddly lately, so read the touching tale of two lonely interspecies orphans who found companionship in Alor Star. I still think there is a disproportionate amount of these unorthodox relationships coming out of Malaysia. Or maybe they just enjoy reporting them more than other countries.
