Skinned

I think I mentioned posture, and maybe obliquely just being more myself, but what I had no idea I’d get into in 2016, and to be fair it’s early days, are expensive (for me) skin care products.

Like a $62 toner and Korean masks, and serums, and peels, and cleansing oils, and hydrating milks, and that’s probably just the beginning, and though to some degree it might just be a distraction from the fact that my under eyes are still sinking and none of this is meant to counteract that, I will say that half-way through January my skin looks fucking amazing. At first I thought it was because the weather finally turned wintery and I was no longer sweating, but I think there’s more to it.

I was dubious about this Biologique Recherche P50 lotion that ladies go nuts for and within 36 hours I can already see and feel a difference and I swear it’s not just psychological or a subconscious attempt to justify the expense (which really it isn’t considering it’ll last at least a year and I’d spend that much just going out to eat on a weeknight), plus the packaging is so late’70s/early ’80s, my favorite stylistic period for TV shows at the moment (Fargo, The Americans, Halt and Catch Fire) chic. It’s like your skin becomes more matte yet radiant at the same time. And despite what say bout it smelling like garbage, it totally does not, just a little earthy and camphor-ish in a way I find appealing, though it really started becoming noticeable hours later when I was at the gym because I guess it was oozing out of my pores.

Anyway, 2016 is going to be about good skin. I had no idea.
