I vaguely recall the tale of a baby hippo who'd lost his family in the tsunami befriending an old tortoise. The not quite believable story was put through the Snopes ringer…and deemed true. How sweet. I'm not even crazy about hippos or turtles, but c'mon, this is adorable.
Todayn the New York Times had a bit, "Can't We All Just Get Along?" about interspecies friends in recent children's stories (how do these things become trends, anyway?). Owen and Mzee, the hippo and turtle, have been turned into a picture book. There's even a blog about the animals from the the Kenyan nature preserve where they live.
This makes these glasses very expensive and out of the reach of average people
